Hindsford GP 0 Winsfield 4

The last game of the season was a tough fixture. Winsfield came to Gin Pit on the back of a 1-1 draw with Mosley Common. With some key players missing Hindsford put in a battling performance against a very good Winsfield team.

Hinsford cause was not helped by losing Sam Lawton to an injury after 10 minutes. Adil Rashid slotted in at centre half and did an outstanding job.

Hindsford were under pressure for most of the game but their heads never dropped and their commitment never wavered. When we did get the opportunity to go forward Ste Lupton and Damon Greenhough looked lively.

Before the game I asked for a performance from the team and in return I got 100%. You played with pride and did not deserve to lose 4 – 0. A special mention must go to goal keeper Rob Jones who pulled off a string of outstanding saves. Yes we all know the first goal was mistake by Rob but that’s the problem with playing in goal, your mistakes are magnified because they usually cost a goal. If an out field player gives the ball away as a team we have time to recover.

I would like to thank all the players and parents for their efforts. I hope everyone has enjoyed the season, roll on September.

Dads versus Lads – 3-1

In a game that the dads won at a stroll there were some fine performances from Des Morris, Mike Hurst, Mat O’Donnell and Tom O’Donnell!!!!!! The tone of the game was set early on when Des Morris kicked Chris Haslam off the park. The lads defence could not handle the pace and power of centre forward Des Morris.

The dads opened the scoring with a goal from (ringer) Peter Redwin after Des Morris had taken out two of the lads defenders. The only problem the dads had was that Barry Gunn’s shorts were getting higher and higher as the half progressed.

At half time the watching mothers could take no more and Liz had to have a word with her husband about his shorts.

The second half continued as the first with the dads dominating and further goals followed including a stunner from Mike Hurst with a consolation for the lads from a a player the dads lent them (Peter Redwin).

Better luck next year lads!!!!!

Man of the Match – Kathy Lawton (that’s a girl lads – you got beat by a girl)
